About the Watch professional

Your watchmaker

I didn’t start my working life as a watchmaker – I joined Essex Police at the grand old age of 18. Quickly realising it wasn’t for me, I completed my 2 year probation and left with the possibility of rejoining  at a later date.

For the next couple of years I didnt really know what I wanted to do, until I saw an advert for an apprentice watchmaker at Swiss Time Services, the rest as they say is history!

I would go on to complete my watchmaker training and stay here for a further 8 years. It gave me a great foundation, and by the time I left I had built up a wealth of knowledge and experience servicing a wide range of luxury watch brands.

Happy to be working at Watches of Switzerland!

My next stop would be Omega as a senior Watchmaker based in their flagship store on Oxford Street, London.

I passed the Omega Level 3 accreditation through the Omega Watchmaker Evaluation Program, and learnt a great deal about Omega watches.

Now with 15 years of watchmaking experience under my belt, my final foray into London was for Watches of Switzerland on Regent Street. Working with a highly experienced Rolex accredited watchmaker for a number of years, gaining vital knowledge about the repair and servicing of their watches.

Along with Omega I am also a Panerai accredited watchmaker, having  recently attended the Panerai manufacture and headquarters in Neuchatel, Switzerland and successfully completing the Panerai watchmaker training and exams.

This brings us to the beginning of The Watch Professional. It didnt start out as the website it is now, it began as a way for me to blog the variety of repairs I was servicing and it can still be seen under the Insights page of this website, it went from strength to strength and is now the business I run today.

Having started out at a workshop in a dedicated area of my home, in early 2026 The Watch Professional moved into premises located on Moulsham Street, Chelmsford, designed to my own specification and fitted out with all the modern tooling you would expect of a brand accredited service centre.

If you’ve got a luxury watch that needs some attention, feel free to get in touch or pop by, im always happy to help,

Alex
